1985, at the age of 8yrs old, Sacramento California, born and raised, a seed was planted inside of Troy Ruffin, aka Brotha Ruff(Gospel Gorilla) and he started rapping for the Lord at his grandfather’s church along with his 3 older sisters and younger brother. At this time, Christian rap was frowned upon by many religious churches. Christian rap was considered “unholy” or an infiltration in the church by the devil, called “wordly music”. On top of being raised in a broken home, devastated internally, rebelling outwardly, by the collapsed structure of family, Brotha Ruff faced many struggles and challenges of religious legalisms, man-made doctrine, philosophies, etc., relative to Christianity. This played a huge roll in his decision to step away from Christian rap, and ultimately in pursuing a true relationship with Christ for a season. After Brotha Ruff came into the knowledge of seeking family through the pleasures of street life, and maintaining it for years due to the simplicity it possessed on the on-set for him, he found himself faced with many hardships, and he ended up at a crossroad. This crossroad was between lacking/desiring a liberty that wasn’t given or produced through the lifestyle he lived, and embracing the seed that was sowed into his life as a young man. Through grace by faith, and repentance unto the Lord, he chose the seed, which was the gospel. From a hearer of the word to a doer of the word, Brotha Ruff moved forward producing Christian music and videos as a tool and/or vehicle to reach the lost as well as edify the body. By having a renewed mind through Jesus Christ, understanding the power given by the Father through the Holy Spirit unto him, as a co-laborer w/Christ, an heir to the throne, Brotha Ruff embraced his new family. –The Royal Family. In 2009, the Lord guided Brotha Ruff to 1Peter 2:9 [But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.] This is the founding scripture of the Royal Family. Brotha Ruff was later ordained as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Royal Family ministries, also known as Royal Family International is a nonprofit organization which purpose is to reach the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ by all means necessary. We provide concert outreaches, mentoring, music, teachings, seminars, and evangelism outreaches for the purpose of spreading the gospel and equipping the body of Christ, uncompromised in power, identity, and sincerity.  –Our Motto: “For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power” 1Corinthians 4:20
