1 Timothy 6:12 ESV
[12] Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

I love how Paul is making sure his lil homie in the faith don’t get caught up waisting time and energy on things that Ultimately don’t matter. Even back then it was easy to get distracted by meaningless arguments, superstitions, and battles that weren’t really centered around the most important issue. And we also see Paul not leaving it up to Timothy to figure out what the right thing to focus on is.
To state that there is a “Good fight” is also to state there is a “bad fight”. I’ve often asked myself, am I fighting a bad fight right now? When I allow and issue with something to take up my time or attention.
Paul tells Timothy that the GOOD FIGHT is to stand for truth and keep the trust in Christ he has had from the beginning. The faith that transformed him and brought him into eternal life in Christ. And to prove his faith thru a lifestyle that agrees with the public declaration he has made. So he would not be counted a hypocrite, professing Jesus with his lips yet denying him with his actions, but also to encourage others to follow the WAY as well.
I pray that I don’t become distracted by things that have nothing to do with these priorities. I pray that I can be a good steward of my time gifted to me.
